For my electronic marketing class, we were split into groups to help build social media profiles for our PRT department. My team built the Pinterest profile. Pinterest is a growing media for advertising because it's an easy way to market using pictures and short descriptions. It also allows businesses to engage with consumers and can be an essential aspect of content marketing. From what I've seen, success on Pinterest relies a lot on the number of pins one has. A lot of the popular boards have hundreds of pins, from which people can repin. The problem with our group project was that we were building the profile from scratch, meaning we have hardly any pins. With few pins, we also have few followers. Once the number of pins are built up, it's important to engage with people. This can be done by commenting on pins, repinning, and liking pins. Engaging with people is important because it helps circulate your name and gain followers- people can gain interest in boards when they see that you've commented on something they like. If I could summarize everything I've learned about Pinterest, it would be: pin as many things as you can that relate to each board, and gain followers by not only following people but trying to engage with them.
Below are some screenshots of our Pinterest profile callzsed Uexplore. We made a total of 8 boards having to do with PRT or the Uexplore classes: splitboarding, paddleboarding, students, a general board, hospitality management, and then boards for land, snow and water based classes.
